Dia sells its Argentine business for €48 million
Spanish supermarket chain Dia is selling its Argentine business for €48 million to Dorikna, a company linked to Grupo de Narváez, which operates the ChangoMás stores.
The sale follows Dia’s exits from Portugal and Brazil as it shifts its focus to its Spanish business.
Dia said its Argentine unit lost €54 million between June 2025 and June 2026, while supermarket sales in Argentina have fallen by more than 20% since 2023.
The deal also means Dia will no longer need to provide capital to support the Argentine business.
Dia plans to use the money to advance its 2025–2029 strategy, which aims to open 100 new supermarkets each year.
The company says it opened 22 stores in Spain in the first quarter and intends to continue growing there.
Dia has agreed to sell 100% of its Argentine subsidiary for €48 million to Dorinka S.R.L., linked to Grupo de Narváez.
The Spanish supermarket group said the sale will let it focus its resources on Spain and remove the need for future capital contributions to its Argentine business.
The Argentine subsidiary recorded losses of €54 million between June 2025 and June 2026, while its gross and net sales fell 15% over the year.
Cinco Días reported that the transaction would have a negative impact of €100 million.
Dia said proceeds would support its 2025–2029 strategic plan.
