What people are saying
Democracy must be respected, but anarchic acts must not be allowed to become a recurring pattern. The state must be present through firm, measured and professional law enforcement, not repressive action.
Being firm does not mean being harsh. Measured means every action by the authorities must be based on law, proportionate and accountable.
The state must not be defeated by violence, but it must also not lose the principles of democracy and the supremacy of law.
