BRILink Agent in Dumai Expands Access to Everyday Banking

Rahmi runs four BRILink outlets in Dumai, a city in Indonesia’s Riau province.

She began with a phone-credit counter in 2017 and joined the banking agent network after seeing that some residents had to travel far to reach a bank.

The outlets handle money transfers and bill payments, as well as payments local traders make to suppliers.

Rahmi says staff take extra care to explain transactions to older customers who are not used to digital services.

BRI says its agent network supports access to banking and local economic activity; by the end of September 2026, it had more than one million agents across about 80% of Indonesia’s villages.

BRI says it will continue expanding the network to reach people in rural areas.

In serving the community, whoever the customer is, especially older people who are not familiar with digital transactions, I always emphasize to all staff that they should give extra attention and explain every process patiently until they truly understand.
