Myanmar releases rare images of Aung San Suu Kyi after books delivered
Myanmar’s military-backed government released rare photos of Aung San Suu Kyi on Monday.
Officials said they delivered two books, a sealed envelope and a diplomatic message from Britain’s King Charles.
Suu Kyi has been detained since the military ousted her government in February 2021.
The delivery is a rare sign of foreign contact with her, as her whereabouts and health have been hard to establish and no foreign leader or envoy has publicly met her.
She was moved to house arrest in April and is serving an 18-year sentence for offences she denies.
She remains under military rule in Myanmar, with no further next steps stated.
