Saudi Arabia lifts alerts in Eastern Province after missile interception

Saudi Arabia’s civil defence lifted alerts across parts of the Eastern Province, including Dhahran, Dammam, Abqaiq and Al-Ahsa.

The warning had said there was a potential danger, but officials later said it had passed.

Dhahran is home to the headquarters of Saudi Aramco, and the province holds most of Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas reserves.

The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted a Houthi ballistic missile aimed at the Eastern region shortly after the all-clear.

Yemen’s Iran-allied Houthi group has been firing missiles and drones at Saudi airports, ports and oil facilities.

The attacks put pressure on Saudi Arabia’s key energy sites amid the wider war involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

The alerts were lifted, and no further steps were specified.
