Disney Plans Animated Star Wars Telecast for 2027 Super Bowl

Disney Plans Animated Star Wars Telecast for 2027 Super Bowl

Disney and Lucasfilm will present a Star Wars-themed alternate telecast of Super Bowl LXI in 2027.

The game is scheduled to be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and the animated presentation will also air on Disney+ and Disney Channel, among other services.

The telecast will turn real players into animated avatars and bring Star Wars characters into key moments.

Actor Anthony Daniels, who played C-3PO, will voice the character in the show.

Disney has previously made animated NFL broadcasts featuring characters from Toy Story and The Simpsons, but those were for regular-season games.

This takes the format to the Super Bowl, one of the biggest annual broadcasts, alongside several other alternate telecasts.

Disney says it will share more details in the coming weeks, including information about the setting, commentators and characters.
