Gambir Station and Monas to Be Revitalised as an Integrated Transport Hub

KAI plans to revitalise Gambir Station and the Monas area in central Jakarta as one connected public space.

KAI chief executive Bobby Rasyidin said the plan was discussed with President Prabowo Subianto.

The project is estimated to cost about Rp2 trillion, funded by KAI and a group of banks, rather than state capital.

Gambir is planned to connect directly with Jakarta MRT, linking the station’s eastern corridor to the MRT’s western corridor.

Gambir is also planned to serve KRL commuter trains again, alongside long-distance rail services, to support connections between transport modes.

Work is planned in two stages over two years, with the transport minister previously saying the project is targeted for completion in 2028.
