Amit Shah says BJP will bring UCC to Uttar Pradesh if it wins again in 2027

At a BJP meeting in Lucknow, Home Minister Amit Shah said the party would introduce a Uniform Civil Code in Uttar Pradesh if it wins a third term.

The promise is tied to the 2027 state assembly election, for which the BJP has begun preparing.

A Uniform Civil Code, or UCC, is the policy Shah said the party would bring to the state; he noted that it has been introduced in several other states.

The BJP returned to power in Uttar Pradesh in 2022 after winning the 2017 election, and Shah urged party workers to work together for another victory.

He praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government and claimed it had improved law and order, while attacking opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav.

Shah also said the BJP would remain in power in the state for decades, but that was his political claim, not an outcome of the election.

The next step is the 2027 election, which will determine whether the BJP can carry out its UCC pledge.
