Elfyn Evans welcomed home as a world champion in Dolgellau

Welsh rally driver Elfyn Evans was welcomed home as a world champion at a public celebration in Dolgellau.

The event took place in Eldon Square, where crowds gathered despite persistent rain.

Evans had clinched the championship in Sardinia, and some supporters had travelled there to see it happen.

He thanked his family for supporting him throughout his career and recalled that his grandfather taught him to drive at a very young age.

His family and local supporters shared in the celebration, with some describing his perseverance as an inspiration.

The turnout showed how much his achievement means to Wales, and the town council helped organise the event.
