Mass donor Simon signs contract barring further sperm donations
Simon has signed an agreement to stop donating sperm with Stichting Donorkind, which represents affected parents and children.
The 44-year-old says he fathered 199 children and had misled prospective parents about how many children he had already fathered.
The agreement also requires clinics to destroy his stored sperm and bars him from offering donations to new parents.
Mass donation can create risks of accidental relationships between half-siblings, and many children want to meet their biological families.
A narrow exception allows donations to families who already have his child and had put in writing beforehand that he could be a donor for another child.
The agreement does not cover compensation for affected families; the foundation plans to discuss that with mothers and may go to court if Simon does not take responsibility.
He could therefore still father some children through the exception, but the lawyer for the foundation says only very small numbers of families are likely to qualify.

The agreement also bars him from telling prospective parents that he is willing to donate and requires him to have stored sperm destroyed.

The contract allows an exception for parents who already have a child by Simon and had agreed in writing that he could donate for another child.
Compensation claims are not covered by the agreement, and Stichting Donorkind says it may take the matter to court if Simon does not accept responsibility.

What people are saying
To address parents’ concerns and uncertainty about the scale of my donations, I voluntarily made agreements.
It concerns only mothers who made written agreements in advance and, after all the revelations, still want another child from Simon, so the numbers involved are very small.
