Investors place $320 billion in orders for Big Tech bonds

Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta, Apple and Oracle raised nearly $75 billion through bonds as their share prices fell.

Investors submitted about $320 billion in orders for the new debt.

Bond buyers focus on whether a company can repay its debt, while shareholders are more concerned about profits and growth.

The five companies have strong credit ratings, although Oracle has a weaker rating than the others.

Big Tech offered relatively high interest rates to attract buyers, with 10-year dollar bonds yielding 5.4% to 8%.

Those higher rates partly reflect the large supply of new debt, not necessarily deep investor doubts about the companies.

Tech firms have issued about $440 billion in bonds since early 2025, and may need to borrow more, so investors will be watching their borrowing costs.
