Phantom Blade Zero draws 431,541 peak players on Steam

Chinese studio S-Game launched Phantom Blade Zero on PC and PlayStation 5, and the game quickly drew a large audience.

It reached 431,541 concurrent players on Steam, making it the platform’s second most-played game at the time reported.

The game draws on wuxia, a tradition of martial-arts stories about roaming fighters, moral debts and revenge.

Players follow Soul, a swordsman with 66 days to find a cure and clear his name after he is accused of murdering his master.

S-Game has not announced sales figures, but an analyst estimates sales are already above 1 million copies across PC, PlayStation 5 and China’s WeGame platform.

That is a strong start, though it remains far below the success of Black Myth: Wukong, another Chinese action game.

The game is now on sale, and its player numbers may rise further over the weekend, according to the forecast cited.
