Parti Québécois returns to power after Quebec election upheaval

The Parti Québécois, which supports Quebec separating from Canada, is back in power after the 2026 provincial election.

The CAQ, which had governed Quebec, was wiped out.

A separatist win does not mean a referendum is certain or imminent.

The new government may be a minority, and its ability to last is in question.
