Mourinho says he would have urged Vinicius to leave Real Madrid
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho said he would have left the club if he were Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior.
Mourinho said Vinicius stayed out of loyalty to Real Madrid and belief that things could improve.
Vinicius has faced repeated racial abuse in Spain since joining the club in 2018.
He has also had a difficult start to the season and received a four-match ban after being sent off against Villarreal.
The suspension rules him out of Real Madrid’s match against Barcelona on October 25.
His future is under scrutiny as his contract talks remain uncertain, though another source says he signed a deal running through 2032.
Mourinho says Vinicius can regain his form, but the team will have to manage his return after the ban.
