NOYB files complaints over Scale AI's monitoring of freelance workers
NOYB filed complaints against Scale AI in France, Italy, the Netherlands and Austria over its Outlier platform.
The platform uses freelance workers to produce AI training data for clients including Meta, OpenAI and Google.
More than 900,000 people work on Outlier, according to the complaints.
NOYB alleges the platform tracked workers, including by recording keystrokes and mouse movements every few seconds.
It also challenges identity checks involving workers’ identification documents and face videos, saying they may breach European Union data rules.
The complaints say four workers received no reply after asking for copies of their personal data.
NOYB wants regulators to investigate and consider fines; Scale AI had not immediately commented.
NOYB filed five complaints against Scale AI in four European countries over alleged monitoring of freelance workers on its Outlier platform.
The complaints allege that Outlier collects extensive personal data, including keystrokes and mouse movements, while workers complete tasks.
NOYB is asking regulators to investigate the platform and fine Scale AI.
