Indonesia Seizes 402 Kilograms of Smuggled Gold in 2026
Indonesia’s customs agency seized 402.31 kilograms of gold in 127 actions against suspected smuggling through October 26, 2026.
The gold was valued at 1.02 trillion rupiah, and the seizures prevented more than 183 billion rupiah in potential losses to the state.
In October alone, customs officers stopped 25.88 kilograms of gold being exported illegally at five international airports: Soekarno-Hatta, Juanda, Yogyakarta, Kertajati and I Gusti Ngurah Rai.
The agency says exporters must provide export documents and declare gold to customs.
If an export is subject to an export duty, exporters must also pay it; people unsure of the rules can ask a local customs office.
The people involved and the seized gold have been secured and will be processed under the law.
