Cyberattack exposes data linked to Zurich city pension fund
Data belonging to members of Zurich’s city pension fund was stolen in a cyberattack on external software provider PK Softech.
The attack happened in late September, after the fund had sent data to the company while preparing to change its administration system.
The stolen information may include contact details, AHV numbers, bank account details and pension data, but investigators are still working out exactly what was taken and how many people are affected.
Pension savings and payments are not at risk, and the system used to manage them was not affected.
The fund has filed a criminal complaint.
Other Swiss pension funds are also affected, including the federal fund Publica and two Bernese funds.
The Post pension fund is also affected, but it is not yet clear whether its members’ data was taken.
