Two men killed in bear attacks in Russia’s Irkutsk region
Investigators say two men were killed in separate bear attacks in the Nizhneilimsky district of Russia’s Irkutsk region.
On October 10, a 56-year-old man was found dead near a shelter by the Tareya River, close to the Bratsk Reservoir.
The same day, remains found near Kaimonovo were identified as a 47-year-old man from the village of Rechushka.
He had lived in a forest shelter for several months, and his family thought he had gone hunting and failed to return.
Both deaths were attributed to bear attacks, according to investigators.
The cases are being checked, with officials documenting the scenes, gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses.
Investigators will decide on further procedural steps after the checks are complete.
