Trans Am to hold first endurance race at Bathurst
Trans Am will hold its first endurance race at Mount Panorama in Bathurst on March 27.
The race is part of the Bathurst 6 Hour event, which runs from March 26 to 28.
Trans Am cars do not have quick-refuelling systems, so the race will pause midway for refuelling and a driver change before the second phase begins.
The format is expected to resemble a stage race, but organisers have not yet announced its length.
The new format builds on the event’s place on the Trans Am Cup Series calendar and follows the separate TA2 Tag Team Enduro.
Organisers hope the race will attract prominent Australian drivers to compete at Mount Panorama.
More details are due to be announced later.

What people are saying
So when the organisers approached us to take our appearance to the next level by making the race an endurance-type format on the Saturday afternoon, we were immediately excited by the idea.
These cars don’t have a dry break fuel system and we aren’t intending to change the specifications of the cars at all.
The format is likely to be a ‘stage’ type race format – an opening race, followed by a short break for re-fueling, a driver change, then straight into the next phase.
