Turkish parliament to resume Red Crescent bill debate and review 2027 budgets

Turkey’s parliament is due to resume debate on the Turkish Red Crescent bill this week.

The bill has nine articles, and lawmakers have approved four so far.

It would set out the Red Crescent’s duties, powers and exemptions, including its role in aid and disaster response.

It also proposes support such as tax and customs exemptions and compensation for staff working in emergencies.

Parliament is also continuing its review of government ministries’ 2027 budgets, with the Justice Ministry’s budget scheduled for committee discussion.

If the Red Crescent bill debate is completed, lawmakers are expected to consider a separate proposal regulating foreign accommodation platforms, including requiring permits and Turkish representatives.

The platform proposal would take effect on 1 January 2027 if enacted, and could allow access to Booking in Turkey.
