Lufthansa considers selling parts of its IT subsidiary

Lufthansa is considering selling parts of its software business, Lufthansa Systems, which provides IT services to airlines.

The company has about 3,100 employees worldwide and is based in Raunheim, near Frankfurt, Germany.

The possible sale could be worth nearly one billion euros, according to a media report citing people familiar with the matter.

The software products under discussion include Lido and NetLine, which support flight and operations planning, and possibly Sirax, which handles revenue accounting.

The move would fit Lufthansa’s plan to focus on passenger flights, cargo and aircraft maintenance, after selling its catering business in 2023 and its AirPlus credit-card business in 2024.

Lufthansa has hired bankers to examine a sale, but talks are at an early stage and no decision has been made; financial investors are seen as likely buyers.
