Chargers place Derwin James on injured reserve with hamstring injury

The Los Angeles Chargers placed safety Derwin James Jr. on injured reserve on Saturday because of a hamstring injury.

James has not played since the Chargers lost to Buffalo on Sept.

27, and coach Jim Harbaugh said his recovery had suffered a setback.

The move means James must miss at least four games.

The Chargers, who are 0-6, are due to face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

The team added cornerback Isas Waxter to its active roster and promoted cornerback Kaiir Elam from the practice squad.

Left guard Kayode Awosika, defensive back Deane Leonard and receiver Brenen Thompson were also ruled out for the game.

Receiver Ladd McConkey and Tre’ Harris are set to play, according to an earlier update, while James’s absence leaves the Chargers without a key defensive player.
