Swiss poll points to gains for SVP and left, losses for centre parties

A new poll suggests the SVP would remain Switzerland’s largest party if parliamentary elections were held now, with 29.9% of the vote.

The survey was conducted for the SRG by Sotomo, asking about 25,000 eligible voters across Switzerland in September 2026.

The Social Democratic Party and the Greens would also gain support, reaching 19.3% and 10.3% respectively.

By contrast, the Centre party and FDP would lose ground, with projected support of 12.6% and 13.3%.

The pattern points to stronger support at both ends of the political spectrum, while traditional centre-right parties weaken.

The poll is a snapshot, and many changes are within its margin of error.

Switzerland’s next national parliamentary elections are scheduled for 24 October 2027.
