Bhagwat urges protests in India to seek solutions, not deepen divisions

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke at the organisation’s Vijayadashami event in Nagpur on Tuesday, as it marked its centenary.

He said protests are a normal response to social problems and administrative failures, but they should seek solutions rather than deepen divisions.

His remarks came amid protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the revision of voter lists.

Bhagwat alleged that forces seeking to weaken India could exploit public discontent, and said some political leaders might support them for personal gain.

He cited unrest in France, Nepal and Bangladesh, while arguing that changing a government does not by itself solve underlying problems.

The political dispute over the protests continues, with opposition groups saying their demands concern electoral transparency and democratic rights.
