LG Chem plans clinical development of AI-designed cancer vaccine in 2029

At a conference in Seoul, LG Chem outlined plans to use AI in cancer treatment and drug development.

The company is building an AI model to study each patient’s cancer and predict new antigens that could prompt an immune response.

These predicted antigens would be used to develop personalized mRNA cancer vaccines.

LG Chem plans to complete preclinical work in 2027, then begin clinical development in 2029.

It also plans to use AI to identify patients most likely to benefit from treatments and to help design clinical trials using biomarkers.

The approach matters because it aims to match treatments more closely to the biology of individual cancers, but the vaccine is still in development.
