Thales unveils containerized naval mission system

French defense company Thales unveiled a modular naval mission system at Euronaval 2026 in Paris.

The system puts surveillance, reconnaissance, fire control, navigation and communications equipment into a single 20-foot container.

It also integrates radars, sonars and electronic warfare systems.

Navies can deploy or reconfigure the container to adapt ships and other platforms for different missions.

This could help fleets combine conventional warships with smaller vessels and unmanned maritime systems without permanently fitting every capability to each one.

The modular design aims to make upgrades and deployment quicker as naval needs and technology change.

Thales says the system can be expanded or modified to meet customer requirements, but no further deployment plans are given.
