Yusei and Soseikan win Kyushu quarterfinals to boost Spring Koshien hopes

Yusei and Soseikan won their Kyushu tournament quarterfinals on Oct.

28, moving closer to next spring’s Senbatsu high school baseball tournament.

Fukuoka’s Yusei beat Saga’s Waseda Saga 7-6 with a walk-off victory in the 10th inning after rallying from three runs behind.

Nagasaki’s Soseikan defeated Okinawa’s Koza 4-0, scoring all four runs in the first inning and holding Koza scoreless.

The Kyushu tournament is one of the regional competitions used to assess teams for Senbatsu, so reaching the final four improves a school’s chances of selection.

Yusei is considered likely to make its first Senbatsu appearance, while Soseikan has moved closer to a fifth appearance and its first since 2019.

Senbatsu selections have not yet been finalized, and the schools’ next step is to continue in the tournament.
