Saudi Arabia arrests 13,889 people in immigration inspections
Saudi security forces arrested 13,889 people in joint inspections across the Kingdom from October 1 to 7.
The Ministry of Interior said the arrests involved violations of residency, border security and labor laws.
Of those arrested, 1,382 had been trying to enter Saudi Arabia across its border; most were Ethiopian or Yemeni nationals.
Authorities also arrested 34 people who were trying to leave the country illegally.
In the same period, 10,431 people were deported, while thousands more were referred for travel documents or arrangements.
The ministry said 33,113 expatriates were undergoing procedures to enforce legal measures.
It warned that people who help others enter or stay illegally can face prison and fines, and said the inspections were carried out with other government agencies.
