Shah Rukh Khan says his mother's wish influenced his move into films

In a 1991 interview, Shah Rukh Khan said he was not drawn to the film industry and had doubts about becoming a film actor.

He was already known for television and had signed several film projects, but had not yet made his theatrical debut.

Khan said his mother, Lateef Fatima Khan, died that year and had wanted to see him on the big screen.

He said her wish helped change his mind, and he also wanted to leave their Delhi home because it reminded him of her.

His first theatrical release, “Deewana,” came in 1992, and he later became an internationally recognised star.

The interview also showed that he believed actors improve by observing others, practising and learning from mistakes rather than relying on acting classes.

His next major film, “King,” is scheduled to open in theatres on December 24, 2026.
