NTT Docomo Temporarily Disables Email Marks for Affected Companies
Phishing emails have displayed official marks in Docomo Mail, NTT Docomo’s email service in Japan.
Users reported emails pretending to come from companies, including Rakuten Card, that looked like verified messages.
Docomo Mail uses a green mark to identify emails from companies and groups enrolled in its official-account feature.
Some companies’ email authentication settings are linked to the problem, allowing marks to appear on phishing messages.
Docomo will temporarily stop showing marks for affected companies until the issue is resolved.
The mark does not guarantee that an email’s contents are genuine, and Docomo is urging users to stop reading or delete messages that seem suspicious.
