Indian stocks fall as investors weigh company results and announcements

India’s Nifty 50 fell 0.44% after a volatile trading session, as higher-than-expected wholesale inflation and elevated crude prices led investors to take profits.

The index closed at 22,623, near a support range that market analysts are watching.

Reliance Industries filed the prospectus for Jio Platforms’ IPO, setting a price band of Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119 per share.

The proposed sale includes up to 27 crore new shares and could become India’s largest IPO.

Company results were mixed: Tata Technologies’ quarterly net profit fell 5%, while HDB Financial Services’ rose 34% and Bajaj Consumer Care’s rose 67.1%.

The government cleared an IDBI Bank restructuring valued at Rs 52,878 crore, with Fairfax Financial selected as the qualified bidder and the government and LIC set to retain a combined 34% stake.

Punjab National Bank also disclosed several RBI penalties for breaches of currency-chest operating rules, which it described as operational matters.

Investors will continue to watch company earnings and corporate developments as they assess the market’s direction.
