Neuburg carnival leader Michaela Beric has overcome breast cancer twice
Michaela Beric, president of Neuburg’s Burgfunken, has faced breast cancer twice.
She first found an unusual lump in her breast in October 2018 and was diagnosed with a malignant tumour.
Doctors removed it while preserving her breast, then treated her with radiation and hormone-regulating medication.
After six years, she stopped taking the medication in consultation with her doctors.
The cancer returned in early 2025, while she was leading the carnival group and her two sons were serving as carnival princes.
Doctors advised removing the affected breast, and Beric also chose to have the other removed as a precaution.
She had the operation on carnival Tuesday, March 4, 2025, and it went well; she called her children during their parade in Wemding afterward.
