Clash breaks out at right-wing rally in Milan

A participant at a centre-right rally slapped protesters in Milan after tensions rose at the gathering.

The rally took place in Piazza San Carlo and was attended by representatives of Forza Italia, Lega, Brothers of Italy and Noi Moderati.

Organisers opposed what they called “maranza” and social centres, and called for severe punishments for people they described as criminals.

The term “maranza” is used in the rally’s slogans, but the account does not define it.

A group of young passers-by challenged the rally’s message, saying that people called “maranza” could also be Italian.

Some rally participants responded with an insult, and police moved the protesters away.

Senate President Ignazio La Russa left under police escort after warning the protesters that they could be beaten.

The account gives no information about arrests or what happens next.

I want to see what happens when only Italian maranza are left here, because maranza are not only Arab, but also Italian. And who says anything about them?
