Central Java Police Discuss Search With Al-Mukmin Religious Leaders
Central Java Deputy Police Chief Andi Herindra Rahmawan met religious leaders at Al-Mukmin Ngruki in Central Java on Saturday.
The meeting included Abu Bakar Ba'asyir, the pesantren's owner, and other leaders from the institution.
Police had searched two locations in Sukoharjo and Karanganyar on October 27 as part of an investigation into the burning and vandalism of a restaurant in Sukoharjo.
Investigators said the searches were also intended to locate a person wanted in connection with the case.
Andi said police would examine complaints about possible procedural violations and refer any such concerns to the police professional affairs division.
He said the meeting would not affect the investigation, which is ongoing, and that anyone not shown to be involved should not be stigmatized.
Police say they will share confirmed developments officially and urge the public not to spread unverified information.
