Paraná political leaders back Lula in Brazil’s presidential runoff
Four prominent Paraná politicians backed Lula’s re-election in Brazil’s presidential runoff.
The group includes former Curitiba mayor Rafael Greca, Senator Flávio Arns, former mayor Gustavo Fruet and former health minister Alceni Guerra.
Their support was highlighted during Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin’s visit to Curitiba, where Lula’s campaign held an event.
The endorsements bring figures from different political backgrounds together behind Lula.
They contrast with Governor Ratinho Junior and governor-elect Sergio Moro, who support Lula’s opponent, Flávio Bolsonaro.
The backing also runs against the Paraná MDB’s support for Bolsonaro, a position that conflicts with Greca’s endorsement of Lula.
Alckmin welcomed the support and called for wider alliances around Lula’s campaign.

What people are saying
There is no right-wing or left-wing music, because the accordion player, to play, needs both hands, the right and the left.
We hope President Lula has an extraordinary term with the support of Geraldo Alckmin. Geraldo Alckmin is respected in agribusiness, very respected in commerce, industry, among businesspeople, in banks, and we saw that during the tariff shock.
I had the honor of drafting it, and he of reporting it. And so we have the best public health system in the world.
