FDA raises Lidl gelato recall to highest risk level after listeria found

The FDA upgraded a Lidl US gelato recall to its highest risk level after tests found listeria bacteria in the product.

The recall covers one lot of Gelatelli Coffee & Vanilla Gelato with Coffee Sauce and Cookie Pieces, sold in 16-ounce containers.

The 1,122 recalled units went to Lidl stores in Washington, DC, and nine states between July 19 and October 15, 2026.

Listeria can cause serious illness, and the FDA says a Class I recall means exposure could lead to severe health consequences or death.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.

Customers who bought the affected gelato should discard it or return it to a Lidl store for a full refund.
