South Korean worker says leveraged US stock bets cost him 450 million won

A South Korean worker says he lost about 450 million won after investing nearly 500 million won of savings in leveraged US stock products.

He shared his experience on Blind, an anonymous online community for workers.

He said he first held on as losses grew, expecting prices to recover, then made further leveraged investments to try to win back the money.

He now says his losses exceed 90% of what he invested.

The losses have affected his daily life, including his ability to work and eat, and he said he had thought about suicide.

Other community members responded with messages of support, but no further steps were described.

I put all my money into US leverage. Of course, I bought at the peak.

I kept selling at a loss, then aggressively entered other leveraged products and sold at a loss again. Now I’m down more than 90%.
