Litton Das ruled out of Bangladesh's tri-series opener with hip injury

Litton Das is out of Bangladesh’s opening match against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi with a hip injury.

The match starts a three-team ODI series involving Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.

Bangladesh are also without Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who is ill with a fever, while Zimbabwe have given Tafadzwa Tsiga his debut.

Before his injury, Litton had called on senior batters to take responsibility after Bangladesh struggled to bat through 50 overs in recent ODIs against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

He said the team should learn from those matches without dwelling on past mistakes.

Bangladesh see the series as preparation for next year’s Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.

Bangladesh are scheduled to face hosts Afghanistan on October 21.

As senior players, we have to take responsibility. We could not bat for 50 overs here against Afghanistan in the ODIs and we could not do it in Zimbabwe either.

As a batting unit, our responsibility is to make sure that those of us batting in the top six or seven can finish the game.
