Kim Min-jae to miss Bayern’s Freiburg match with minor injury

Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae will miss the Freiburg match on Sunday because of a minor injury.

Assistant coach Aaron Danks said Kim has a muscle strain and is expected to return next week, though Bayern has not given a detailed injury assessment.

Kim was substituted at half-time against Arsenal on Wednesday after playing only the first half.

Bayern will also be without goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, while head coach Vincent Kompany is away from the team for health reasons.

The Freiburg game is important in the Bundesliga race: Bayern are second and Freiburg third, separated by one point.

Kim’s recovery also matters to South Korea, which plans to name its squad on October 29 for November friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

His return next week could put him in contention for those games, but his availability has not been confirmed.
