Indonesia’s Financial Regulator Urges Investors to Stay Resilient

At a financial literacy event in Jakarta, Indonesia’s OJK urged investors to stay resilient through gains and losses.

Stock prices can rise or fall as economic conditions and market sentiment change, so investing requires more than market knowledge.

Edi Broto Suwarno, an OJK official, advised investors not to buy just because others are making money or sell in panic when markets fall.

He said resilience means understanding risk and making disciplined decisions, not avoiding every loss.

OJK recommends setting clear goals, keeping emergency savings, diversifying investments and investing within one’s means and risk profile.

The Jakarta Composite Index was down 31.27% year to date, after reaching a record high of 9,174.47 in January.

Its market value has fallen Rp5,548 trillion from its December 2025 peak, to Rp10,452 trillion.
