Türkiye minister seeks closer EU funding ties for industry

Türkiye’s industry minister called for closer EU funding cooperation on Oct.

14 in Ankara.

Mehmet Fatih Kacır said funding should reflect Türkiye’s status as an EU candidate and its economic ties with the bloc.

The funding could support industrial investment, cleaner production and digital technologies.

The EU and Türkiye have already jointly funded the second phase of the Competitive Sectors Program, with about 260 million euros supporting 43 projects in 23 provinces.

More than 1,000 small businesses gained access to advanced technology, and the projects helped develop products and prototypes, some of which were commercialized or patented.

Kacır also pointed to 5.7 million euros in planned EU support for a platform intended to attract more financing to cut industrial emissions; Türkiye is also following preparations for EU funding instruments for 2028–2034.
