Los Tigres del Norte use Tiny Desk debut to support migrants

The Mexican band Los Tigres del Norte made its Tiny Desk debut in NPR’s Washington offices.

The performance was part of NPR’s Latin music programming for Hispanic Heritage Month.

The band opened with “Somos Más Americanos,” a song that speaks about migration, identity and borders.

Its message supported migrants in the United States, where the band has long addressed migrant experiences in its music.

The group also played familiar songs including “Golpes en el corazón,” “Ni parientes somos” and “La puerta negra.”

The performance brought the band’s migrant message to a US audience through an intimate, acoustic-style concert.

The session was published on NPR Music’s YouTube channel.

Our community is under attack and it is not the first time. They take away our humanity. As long as we can remember, these gentlemen have given us that humanity back. So it is a great honor to have them here
