Evangeline Lilly says fame, health problems led her to leave Hollywood

Evangeline Lilly says she left Hollywood because she disliked fame, faced chronic health problems and wanted a more meaningful life.

The actress is known for playing Kate Austen in *Lost* and Hope van Dyne in Marvel’s *Ant-Man* films.

She says she had considered herself retired since 2020, though she publicly announced her break from acting in 2024.

Lilly said her Christian faith helped her accept a future beyond acting and the money, influence and recognition that came with it.

She says her health has improved significantly after years of chronic problems she associated with the demands of her career.

Her last acting role was in 2023’s *Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania*.

She has not announced a return to acting, and the sources give no plans for what she will do next.
