Voters cast ballots in midterms that could shift control of Congress

Voters across the United States went to the polls in midterm elections that could change which party controls Congress.

The contests include races for the House and Senate, with control of both chambers at stake.

Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed are competing for Michigan’s Senate seat, a race Rogers called the most important in the country.

Former congresswoman Haley Stevens, who lost the Democratic primary to El-Sayed, endorsed Rogers, adding a late twist to the contest.

Officials are monitoring voting machine issues in Westchester County, New York, where they say they are working to ensure every ballot is counted.

New Hampshire voters in Bedford also encountered former football player Rob Gronkowski, who urged people to vote regardless of party.

Election results will determine the balance of power in Congress, but the available updates do not say when the key races will be decided.

My message out here in New Hampshire is just to go out there and vote. It doesn’t matter what party you’re voting for. It’s just important that you go out there and vote and that’s what it’s all about,
