South Korea’s Average Daily Stock Settlement Value Falls in Third Quarter

South Korea’s average daily stock settlement value fell to 8.8 trillion won in the third quarter.

The figure covers settlements processed through the Korea Securities Depository.

It was down 12.4% from the previous quarter, marking the first decline after four quarters of increases.

The previous three quarters had seen the daily average rise, and the third-quarter figure was still 288.9% higher than a year earlier.

A stock market correction in the second half of the year was cited as a reason investment activity cooled.

Trading and settlement values also fell in the exchange-traded stock market and among institutional investors.

The figures point to lower market activity in the quarter, but no next steps were specified.
