Artist hangs anti-Met Gala drawing at Metropolitan Museum
Artist David Sabastian hung a crayon drawing at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in a protest against the Met Gala.
He and an accomplice used a stroller carrying a Bluetooth speaker, which played recorded sexual sounds to draw security away.
The drawing, titled “The Met 2028,” shows celebrities on the museum’s famous gala staircase while people clash with riot police outside.
Sabastian said it was meant to show the contrast between celebrity glamour and turmoil outside the museum.
The Met Gala is Vogue’s annual event, held at the museum and widely covered; Sabastian said he used crayons to make his work more ridiculous.
