Four arrested over group attack on car in Oita

Police in Oita arrested four people over a group attack on a car, including a 28-year-old man and three teenagers.

The incident happened on September 16 on a road in Oita City, southwest Japan, when the car was stopped at a traffic signal.

Police suspect the group had planned to break the windows and that the teenagers followed the car in two vehicles.

They allegedly blocked it from the front and rear, then smashed three windows with a pipe-like object.

Three people were in the car, and one was lightly injured; a passenger called police to report that the car had been attacked.

Police say the three teenagers had left before officers arrived and were identified through later investigations.

The four were arrested between October 8 and 18, and police are investigating the motive and circumstances.
