Sony unveils three high-end digital Walkmans priced up to $5,899

Sony has announced three high-end digital Walkmans for people who want a dedicated music player rather than listening only on a phone.

The models are the NW-ZX900, NW-WM1AM3 and NW-WM1ZM3, and they are available for pre-order in the United States.

They play music stored on the device and stream it through apps; these are digital players, not cassette Walkmans.

US prices range from $1,899.99 to $5,899, with the flagship costing nearly $6,000.

Its copper chassis is gold-plated, while the other models use different materials and audio components.

Sony says its processing and construction can improve sound, but the announcement does not establish how noticeable those improvements are to listeners.

Sony has not announced Brazilian prices or availability.
