Van Persie and Nelson near Feyenoord returns, but will miss Telstar

Feyenoord will be without Shaqueel van Persie and Reiss Nelson for Saturday’s match against Telstar in Velsen-Zuid.

Van Persie, a 19-year-old striker, has been sidelined for about a month with physical problems after returning from a serious knee injury.

He has started doing some exercises in training, but is not yet ready to play.

Jakub Moder is training fully with the group, though he has been out for a long time and also will not play against Telstar.

Nelson is expected to rejoin training next week, while midfielder Luciano Valente is available after a hamstring concern.

Feyenoord has only one recognised centre-forward available, Nacho Ferri, leaving coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst with limited options if Ferri needs a rest.

The team has Real Betis and PSV coming up within a week, so Feyenoord will hope its injured players recover soon.
