Maringá beats Ferroviária to win Brazil’s Série C title

Maringá beat Ferroviária 2-1 in the second leg of Brazil’s Série C final in Araraquara, São Paulo.

The result gave the Paraná club a 3-2 aggregate win after the teams drew 1-1 in the first leg.

Both clubs had already earned promotion to Série B, alongside Santa Cruz and Inter de Limeira.

For Maringá, founded in 2010, this was its first national title and its first promotion to Brazil’s second division.

The title also gives Maringá a direct place in the third stage of the 2027 Copa do Brasil.

After the final whistle, players from both teams fought, with punches and kicks reported before the scuffle was broken up.

Maringá celebrated the title with its traveling supporters.
